When they were younger they used to sit together at school and out of school they spent a lot of time with each other. Huw’s father didn´t work. He was sad because his son Richard was killed two years ago while fighting in North Africa. His father sometimes drank a lot. Huw had another brother, Gareth, he was also a coal miner.

Megan and Huw tried to be together a lot of time, but Megan´s father didn´t want them to continue their friendship. One day, part of the roof of the mine fell down and some miners were inside. One of them was Gareth and he died. Huw’s dad started to have problems with the drink. Huw was only happy when he was with Megan. One day they went to Megan´s house. And they made love, it was the first and the last time. Huw and his father received a letter from his Dad`s brother. He lived in Toronto (Canada). He asked them to go and live with him. Huw and his father left the village of Tredonald for a new life in Canada. Fifty years later Megan and her daughter Beth, were preparing some boxes because Megan was going to marry Paul and live in London.

In one of the boxes Megan found a lot of letters written by Huw that she hadn´t read. None of them had been opened. Her father had hidden the letters because he had thought Huw was not good for her. She decided to write Huw to tell sorry for not answering his letters. From this moment they communicate by letters. Huw also had a son. He was divorced and knew that he had another daughter with Megan, and decided to go to visit Megan to know his daughter.

When Huw arrived to Tredonal he saw Megan and her son and they realized that they were still in love.
