MATHS AND INTELLIGENCE by Álvaro de Gruijter
Last week, our Maths teacher, Gemma, decided to do a little “experiment” which consisted on solving a logic game in
the shortest time possible. Many students underestimated the game thinking it was too easy, but, by the time they’d tried to do it, they weren’t able to solve it, even if they had good grades in maths, it seemed this logic game was more about intelligence and not so much about how good your grades were, proving that not always the “good students” are always the cleverest ones. It also proves how difficult is to evaluate the intelligence and grades do not always show it.
The student who managed to solve it in the shortest time was Sandra Pérez Torrado (3ºC) she solved it in just 25 seconds, while some students also did it in 2 (José Miguel Pardo González, Francisco Reguera) , 3 (Víctor Julián Moratinos, Íñigo Martín Dembour) , 4(Marta Ruiz Fernández, María Íñigo Hoyo, Roberto Martínez Guisasola, Alejandro Herreros,), , 6 (Fernando Carcedo Royuela) 7… minutes.
