When Hastings wants to talk with the housekeeper, they realise that she´s gone! Was she the murder of Mr. Pace? Poirot doesn´t think so. In fact, he thinks that she has never existed because the wife and the housekeeper are the same person and that she had killed Mr. Pace with the help of her husband. But there isn´t any evidence so, how could they bring that pair to justice?

THE LERNEAN HYDRA. Rumours are like the Lernean Hydra, you can cut one head but unless you find the first head, the head which started the rumour, you won´t beat the monster. Helped by this simile is how Dr Charles Oldfield explains his problem to Hercule Poirot: his wife died a year ago but, although the doctors said the causes were natural because she was very ill and invalid, everyone in his village said that it was Dr Oldfield’s fault. To find out who started this rumour, Poirot had to meet all the gossip old ladies in the village and he discovered some interesting facts. Maybe Dr Oldfield wasn´t so innocent as he thought.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE CLAPHAM´S COOK. The cook of Mrs Todd has disappeared. Despite at first either Poirot and Hastings didn´t want to carry on this case, at last they found it really interesting. Find where the cook was, wasn´t difficult at all although she was in Australia but the thing was why she was there. Her adventure had behind a net of hesitates, tricks and robberies which finished with a cold-blood murdered.

Written by: Celia Ausín (2º ESO-C)

Detective Stories by Agatha Christie THE MYSTERY OF HUNTER´S LODGE.
