As we have two Irish teachers in our school and some wonderful musicians, too, we asked them to play some traditional Irish songs and tell us about their traditions, for example, Saint Patrick\u00b4s Day.<\/p>\n

Saint Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (AD 385\u2013461), <\/em>the foremost patron saint of Ireland, because he was a bishop who helped Irish people to become christian.<\/p>\n

Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early 17th century. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades, festivals and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.<\/p>\n

Nuestro colegio ha apostado fuertemente por el biling\u00fcismo y tiene varios profesores nativos. Aprovechando que dos de ellos, Lynn <\/strong>y Ciaran<\/strong>, han nacido en Irlanda y que tambi\u00e9n contamos con Bel\u00e9n Cembranos,<\/strong> nuestra profesora de m\u00fasica en varias secciones biling\u00fces y que adem\u00e1s toca en un grupo de m\u00fasica celta, ya pod\u00edamos celebrar por todo lo alto el d\u00eda de San Patricio. Ten\u00edamos hasta una enorme bandera irlandesa que nos prepar\u00f3 David.<\/p>\n

En el rato del recreo nos juntamos en la biblioteca un mont\u00f3n de alumnos y profesores para escuchar las explicaciones en ingl\u00e9s de Ciaran y de Lynn. A continuaci\u00f3n, los m\u00fasicos (Almudena, Sergio, Bel\u00e9n y Ciaran)<\/strong> nos deleitaron con varios temas tradicionales y nos animaron a seguirles con las palmas en las piezas m\u00e1s animadas. Despu\u00e9s interpretaron un fragmento de la banda sonora de \u201cEl \u00faltimo mohicano\u201d, que nos hizo sosegarnos. Les dimos un aplauso tremendo y despu\u00e9s lo celebramos tomando t\u00e9 y pastas. Estuvo genial.<\/p>\n
